Due south-east of Grosseto lie the vineyards of Morellino di Scansano DOC, a part of Tuscany which has in recent years enjoyed a revival due to the fresh, juicy, immediate style of their wines; the product of a Sangiovese clone, Morellino. Trying to find a proper place for making wine Elke and Nikolaus Buchheim crossed the Alps many times for over 10 years. They were looking for a home with just a few rows of vines to produce some good wine for their friends and family. In 1998 they were able to realise their dream amidst the untouched nature of southern Tuscany. Soon their simple hobby turned into a passion. In 2002 a professionally led winery of 11 hectares had been born under the direction of the renowned oenologist Massimo Albanese.
